Fans can relive the magic of The Legend of Korra season 2 on DVD and Blu-ray this summer – and there will be plenty of special features to enjoy.
It may seem like only yesterday that fans were counting down the days until the long-awaited premiere of The Legend of Korra season 2, but those days are long past. So long past, in fact, that news of the Blu-ray and DVD release of Book 2: Spirits has arrived from IGN.
The Legend of Korra season 2 will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on July 1 of this year. The cover art for both editions features Korra in her Book 2 costume, looking predictably badass. Unlike the art for season 1, Korra is alone on this cover – except for the ephemeral figures of the spirits Raava and Vaatu in the background.
The Blu-ray edition of The Legend of Korra season 2 will feature animatics, a season recap, and commentary from the cast and creators on all 14 episodes. Three featurettes are also included. “Inside the Book of Spirits” will take fans behind the scenes with Legend of Korra creators Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino. “Kindred Spirits: Tenzin’s Family” will deconstruct the familial relationships of the last airbenders, while “Feuding Spirits: Korra’s Family” will do the same for the Avatar’s uneasy clan.
Sneak peeks from the feautrette’s on Tenzin and Korra’s families were released by IGN.
The DVD edition of The Legend of Korra season 2 will include audio commentary on four episodes, two animatics, and the “Feuding Families” featurette.
In other merchandise news, co-creator Bryan Konietzko revealed a glimpse of the art book for Book Two: Spirits.
“This thing will be on its way to the printers soon,” Konietzko wrote. “Can’t wait for you guys to see it!” According to Amazon.com, the book is currently scheduled for release on Sept. 16 of this year.
