Smash garnered the most votes in an E! poll asking fans to choose one show to save from cancellation.

The NBC musical pulled in more than 58 percent of the vote on E!Online. It beat out ABC’s Body of Proof and NBC’s Deception.

Smash started off its second season with 4.48 million viewers, Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. By March, ratings had gone down to as low as 2.66 million, and NBC announced the show would be moving to Saturdays at 9 p.m. Maintaining a viewership between 1.8 and 1.9 million, NBC then moved Smash to the 8 p.m. Saturday time slot.

As if that weren’t enough, Smash will see one more move to Sunday at 9 p.m. for its two-hour series season finale on May 26.

The musical drama premiered on February of 2012 with more than 11 million viewers. Ratings dipped as the season continued, which led to changes behind the scenes and among the cast.

Former showrunner and creator, Theresa Rebeck, left the show during the first season to be replaced by Josh Safran. Rebeck slammed the Broadway-centered show in an email to Buzzfeed.

“If in fact Theresa Rebeck was the problem with Smash and the trainwreck it became, wouldn’t things have gotten better — rather than drastically worse — once she left?” Rebeck said in a email in response to a January story in which anonymous sources blamed her for the show’s troubles.

Smash stars Megan Hilty, Katharine McPhee, Debra Messing, Anjelica Huston, Christian Borle and Jack Davenport, along with Broadway stars Jeremy Jordan, Andy Mientus and Krysta Rodriguez.

Season 2, episode 14 “The Phenomenon” airs Saturday at 8 p.m. ET and guest stars Bernadette Peters and Jesse L. Martin.
