Rick Riordan updates fans with some new information concerning a few of his upcoming projects, and some U.S. release dates for Son of Sobek and House of Hades cover reveals and publications.

Riordan took to his blog this morning to reveal some information that is sure to get his fans excited!

First up is the paperback edition of The Serpent’s Shadow, which will release on May 7. This is the book that will contain the short story Riordan wrote about Percy Jackson meeting Carter Kane, titled The Son of Sobek. We first got a sneak peek of the story in January. The story will be roughly 40 pages long and free when you purchase the paperback edition.

For those of you that have already bought the first edition of The Serpent’s Shadow, Son of Sobek will be released on June 18 as an electronic e-single. This will be released with its very own cover, to be revealed soon, and will also include an audio version of the book read by none other than Rick Riordan!

Even more exciting than that, however, is that not only will you get The Son of Sobek, but you will also get an exclusive sneak peek at House of Hades when you purchase this e-single.

Disney-Hyperion will release a sneak peek of House of Hades closer to the release date of the book, which is still October 8. The cover reveal will happen on May 31.

Please note that release dates for publication are U.S. ONLY. Riordan tells his international fans, “I don’t get information for other countries, so if you live outside the U.S., your best bet is to ask a local bookseller or the publisher of my books in your country. (The publisher is usually listed on the spine of the book and on the cover page inside.)”

As for those of you who want the book, like, right now? You’re out of luck, unfortunately. Riordan also reminds his rabid fans that, “I promise it will be released on time in October, but no chance in Tartarus that it will be released earlier. And speaking of which, I need to get back to my revisions!”
