Psych-os rejoice! Our favorite fake psychics will officially return for an uninterrupted seventh season of Psych on February 27, 2013.

The long-awaited announcement came via a short minute-long video on the Psych Facebook page. Season 7 is already shaping up to be one of their best, with a highly anticipated two-hour musical episode, and a slew of guest stars. They will also hit their 100th episode mark this season. It is also worth noting that there will be no mid-season break like most USA shows have.

The video features Shawn (James Roday), Gus (Dulé Hill), Juliette (Maggie Lawson) and Lassiter (Timothy Omundson) making the premiere date announcement. While Shawn and Gus discuss the date (is it really 2013, and not 2014 as Shawn believes?) Juliette and Lassiter stand in the background looking very detective-like, while still goofing off, which is a good summation of the show itself.

By the time the premiere comes around, it will have been 10 months since we last saw Shawn, Gus and the SBPD crew. Always teetering between comedy and drama, Psych finales pack an emotional punch. Season 6 ended with Shawn’s dad (Corbin Bernsen) getting shot, and while his future is unknown at the end of the episode, his presence at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con seems to be a pretty good indicator that he will return.

While we’ve all been waiting for a premiere date, Psych is already busy filming the musical episode, evidenced by Dulé Hill. He has been posting behind-the-scenes pictures of the musical episode this past week with the hashtag #PsychMusical. If these photos are any indication, it is going to be a spectacular event that only Psych could pull off. Ally Sheedy will be reprising her role as the terrifying Mr. Yang, Barry Bostwick (Rocky Horror Picture Show) and Brooke Lyons (2 Broke Girls) will also join her.

Psych returns February 27 at 10/9c on the USA Network.

What do you think? Is the date too far away? Excited to finally have a date?
