Man of Steel, directed by Zack Snyder, will soon be heading to theaters this June and today we have an incredible new image in high-res of actor Henry Cavill as Superman.

A new image of Henry Cavill as Superman has just surfaced online and while it appears to be fan-made (artist djpyro229), we felt the image was simply too exciting not to share with our readers. Man of Steel will hit theaters June 14 and stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, and Laurence Fishburne.

Editor’s Note: We were notified by the studio that the original image reported was an official still which was leaked, and have removed it at their request.

Since the original teaser trailer didn’t reveal much, we only had bootlegged Comic Con footage for quite a bit and only a moody poster to help us gauge whether or not we’d like the film. The official trailer definitely amped up the action and gives Superman fans a glimpse at how director Zack Snyder intends to handle the legendary grand-daddy of superheroes.

Recent ‘Man of Steel’ news

In other Man of Steel news, it’s been reported recently that the Justice League film and the possibility of it being made is entirely dependent upon the financial success of Man of Steel. Variety reported that the big-wigs at Warner Bros. are waiting to see how Man Of Steel performs “before moving further ahead on Justice League,” mostly due to the fact that Superman is such an integral part of the Justice League.

It’s been rumored that a Justice League film was already in pre-production and that it was headed to theaters in 2015, but with these recent reports, it would appear that there’s no work being done on the film until the box office numbers are released for Man of Steel. So, if you’re a DC comic fan and you hope to see a Justice League film in the next few years, it may be a wise investment to catch Man of Steel in IMAX 3D multiple times when it hits theaters.

Man of Steel’s writer David Goyer also recently spoke about fans’ concerns that were worrying about the film staying true to Superman lore, and he went on to say that Man of Steel would have more action than any of director Christopher Nolan’s Batman films (who is also producing Man of Steel). Goyer was quoted saying: “There is more action in Man of Steel than any of the Dark Knight Films.”

So, fans can all breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the film’s writer has assured us that Superman will definitely be throwing (and taking) some punches in Man of Steel.
