Originally eyed for a more integral character in the film, Jonah Hill has joined production on Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained in an unspecified role.

As Deadline reports, Hill was originally in talks for the role of Scotty Harmony, the catalyst for the entire story, who loses Django’s (Jamie Foxx) wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) to the evil Calvin Candie (Leonardo Dicpario). Due to scheduling issues, Hill had to drop out of the film, but has since rejoined the cast in what can be assumed as a smaller role, in large part due to the fact production is nearing completion.

The exact role has yet to be revealed, but we’ll be sure to update you here when that information becomes known. In the meantime, we suggest taking the time to watch (or re-watch) the trailer, which could inform a potential role Hill may have in the film:
