Opposition by Jennifer L. Armentrout releases on August 5 and she spoke with Hypable about finishing the Lux series and what’s ahead for our hybrid alien couple.

What is the most difficult part about ending a series that you have spent so much time writing? Is there a character you will really miss writing?
It was hard for me to write the final book in the series because I’ve felt such a connection to Daemon and Katy, but I’m happy with the way their story unfolded. I think that I’ll miss writing all of the characters, but I did really enjoy writing Luc.

Origin revealed the true colors of some characters, Matthew being one, was that something you knew would happen from the beginning? If so were there hints layered in that we should have picked up on?
When I started writing Obsidian, I had a general idea about how I wanted the series to play out. But there were some changes and some surprises for me along the way since I don’t tend to outline my books in advance.

Origin was a roller-coaster ride of emotional highs and lows. Can we expect the same from Opposition? What was your favorite emotional high and low from the series?
There are definitely some highs and lows in Opposition because there’s a lot going on after the ending of Origin. I don’t think I could even begin to pinpoint my favorite high or low for the series because so much has happened to all of the characters, especially Katy and Daemon.

Describe Opposition in 5 words.
Lots of action and romance.

Does Opposition end the way you envisioned the series ending or has is changed and shifted over time?
The exact ending of Opposition has changed and shifted over time, but I did have an idea of where the series was leading for Katy and Daemon.

Is there a chance we could see some of these characters again in a novella or spin off series?
I don’t have any plans to continue writing in the world from the Lux Series, but I guess it’s always a possibility.

Which is more fun to write the action scenes or the kissing scenes?
I think I’d have to choose the kissing scenes. Action scenes are fun to write, but the kissing scenes are my favorite.

What is your favorite TV show right now?
I love The Walking Dead and Supernatural.

Is there any news on the Obsidian movie or Covenant TV series?
I don’t have any news that I can share right now, but I’m just as excited as my readers about both the movie and the TV series. I can’t wait to have more information for everyone.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on a secret project, but I’m not giving any details just yet!

Don’t miss Opposition, the fifth and final book in Jennifer L. Armentrout’s bestselling Lux series. Also included only in the print edition is Shadows, the prequel novella never before seen in print! “A thrilling ride from start to finish,” says RT Book Reviews.

Synopsis

Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came. She can’t believe Daemon stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.
