Naomi Watts has joined the Divergent film series for the remaining three films.

The actress will portray Evelyn, Four’s mother and the leader of the factionless, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Evelyn is the character who dreams up destroying Erudite so Jeanine could lose control of the government. Her reasons for wanting to take down Jeanine aren’t initially what they seem to be.

Watts has signed on for the remainder of the series, meaning she will appear in Insurgent, Allegiant, Part 1, and Allegiant, Part 2.

She is best known for her roles in 2005’s King Kong and smaller films like Mulholland Drive, The Ring, and The Impossible. More recently she played Princess Diana in last year’s biography/drama Diana.

Insurgent just began filming in Atlanta, Georgia last week under the direction of Robert Schwentke, who replaced Divergent helmer Neil Burger. The series stars Shailene Woodley as Tris, Theo James as Four, and Kate Winslet as Jeanine.

Watts is the latest in a quickly-forming line of newcomers to the Divergent franchise for the highly-anticipated sequel. Suki Waterhouse, Jonny Weston, Stephanie L. Schlund, and Octavia Spencer are other recent additions. Notably, Weston’s character appears to be an entirely new character named Edgar.
