The first clip from House of Cards season 2 has been released by the New York Times, and in it we see two supporting characters sparring.

Doug (Frank’s right-hand man portrayed by Michael Kelly) sits down for a meal at the restaurant he set Rachel (a former prostitute played by Rachel Brosnahan) up at, but he’s hardly there to enjoy some fine dining. Instead, he tells Rachel that she must quit her job today and pack a single suitcase. He won’t tell Rachel why she needs to do this, but he’s adamant about it.

Watch the House of Cards season 2 clip below:

Rachel was paid off by Doug in season 1 to keep quiet that she was a prostitute who worked for Congressman Peter Russo. Later, she’s given a chance at having a better life when Doug sets her up with the job at the upscale restaurant.

Spoilers surrounding House of Cards season 2 have been kept under wraps, so there’s no telling why Doug would need Rachel to leave the gig (“They found you once, we can’t take the chance they’ll find you again.”). We presume this scene takes place in episode 1, but it’s hard to say considering Netflix will release all 13 episodes at once on February 14.

Several trades have had early access to the new episodes and have had high praise for season 2. Most agree that it is on par with season 1.

Thanks to the New York Times and Mr. Cappello for the tip.
