Director Peter Jackson has released the first footage from The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies at Comic-Con 2014.

Update: Watch The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies teaser trailer now!

Director Peter Jackson recently revealed that The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’ teaser trailer would premiere soon, and now at Comic-Con 2014 he’s released the first teaser for the final Hobbit film. Read the description below as we wait for the video to be available:

As the video starts we hear a voice over from actor Martin Freeman as Bilbo. He talks about the many battles and remembers those who survived and those who didn’t. Then we hear Pippin from The Lord of the Rings singing the song he sang when Faramir went off to try and take back the city in Return of the King.

Then Thorin is asked if he would have peace or war and he says he would have war. We see loads of battle sequences and then Thorin asks his friends if they will follow him one last time in war. We also see Gandalf “dead’ in battle, with Cate Blanchett’s character kissing his head.

Jackson released a statement recently saying, “Many of you asked about the Hobbit Trailer. Yes – there will be a Hobbit Trailer. But like the previous two years, it’s not going to be released until around Oct. The complex VFX work required to produce the battle shots we’re all wanting to see are not far enough along yet.”

Jackson then revealed that, “I finished work on a Teaser Trailer and that has just been delivered to Warner Bros. So no doubt this Teaser Trailer will be making it’s way into the world sometime soon…”

We look forward to seeing the aftermath of Smaug’s Laketown attack, and more importantly the Battle of the Five Armies, which refers to the fight between the Goblins and the Wargs against the Men of Dale, the Elves, the Dwarves, the Eagles and a Shape-shifter.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies release date is set for December 17, 2014.
