We are saddened to hear that a gunman opened fire at a midnight release of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado.

According to local police, 70 were shot and 12 of those people were killed. The shooting was initially reported by Reuters and 9News.

24 year old James Holmes was taken into custody by police. He did not resist arrest. At the theater while opening fire he was said to have been wearing body armour and a gas mask. He was found with a rifle and a handgun. Police have said that are no indications that a second suspect was involved.

Eye witness reports state that gas was seen in screen 9 of the movie complex before shots were fired.

This is a truly shocking and tragic incident to occur and our thoughts go out to all the victims of this despicable act upon theatergoers.
