Darren Criss and Mae Whitman star in the most recent episode of the online web series Web Therapy.

For those who don’t know, Web Therapy is an online web series hosted by Showtime starring Lisa Kudrow. The former Friends actress plays Fiona Wallice, a therapist who has conceived of a new form of online web counseling, appropriately dubbed “web therapy.”

This week Darren Criss and Mae Whitman joined the ever increasing cast list to play opposite each other as Augie and Blair, a pair of lovers who have never met “IRL” but are involved in a long distance relationship that has sparked its own blog and a major cult following. The three episode long mini-arc shows the couple moving through various stages of their relationship with different levels of sickeningly sweet affection put on display. Watch the videos below to see the madness unfold.

‘Web Therapy’ – ‘Long Distance Lovers’

‘Web Therapy’ – ‘Losing Followers’

‘Web Therapy’ – ‘Closer When We’re Apart’

One of the most interesting aspects of the show is that there is a large amount of improv that goes into its creation. Actors are encouraged to bounce ideas off one another and let each scene evolve naturally, so it’s hard to say how much of this interaction between Criss and Whitman was planned and how much was just the two of them being silly and goofing around on set. Whatever the case may be, it is obvious the two had a lot of chemistry in working together.

In addition to Criss and Whitman, a wide array of heavyweight guest stars have appeared in the series, such as Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jane Lynch, David Schwimmer, Rosie O’Donnell, Conan O’Brien, Minnie Driver, and Courteney Cox to name a few. And like Augie and Blair above, each of these individuals comes to the show to be counseled by the online doctor for some varying reason.
