In June American Psycho writer Bret Easton Ellis revealed a strong interest in writing Fifty Shades.

But now he reveals he’s been tossed out of the running.

Ellis had said that he was “completely committed” to adapting Fifty Shades of Grey. “This is not a joke,” he exclaimed, “Christian Grey and Ana: potentially great cinematic characters.”

Like he did in June, he took to his Twitter to talk about the news:

It’s a shame given that Ellis showed true interest for writing the script. We have to wonder, how many screenwriters are showing the passion he does for taking it on?

We’ll continue to follow any and all Fifty Shades film developments as they’re revealed.
