The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’s end credits will be accompanied by a new song by Ed Sheeran titled “I See Fire,” the singer/songwriter has revealed.

What’s more, every instrument on “I See Fire” except for cello was performed by Sheeran himself. The rising artist went so far as to learn how to play violin just for this occasion.

“Big up Peter Jackson and his team for giving me the opportunity,” Sheeran wrote in one of many tweets he made when announcing the news. “It’s also the first solo song I’ve released in over 2 years, it’s not on the new album though, that fun starts next year.”

“I See Fire” is in the midst of being released on iTunes around the world. Those in the United States can grab it here, or you can listen below:

“I See Fire” sounds like the perfect song for what we hope will be a cliffhanger at the end of Smaug. It has that perfect cool-down vibe that will be perfect after watching two hours of action.

‘I See Fire’ by Ed Sheeran lyrics

Oh, misty eye of the mountain below
Keep careful watch of my brothers’ souls
And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke
Keep watching over Durin’s son

If this is to end in fire
Then we should all burn together
Watch the flames climb high into the night
Calling out for the rope, sent by and we will
Watch the flames burn over and over
The mountain side

And if we should die tonight
Then we should all die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last time
Calling out for the rope
Prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn over and over
The mountain side

Desolation comes upon the sky

Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
And I see fire
All of we souls
And I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me

Oh, should my people fall in
Surely I’ll do the same
Come finding mountain holes
We got too close to the flame
Calling out for the rope
Hold fast and we will
Watch the flames burn and over
The mountain side

Desolation comes upon the sky

Now I see fire
Inside the mountains
I see fire
Burning the trees
And I see fire
All of we souls
And I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me

And if the night is burning
I will cover my eyes
For if the dark returns then
My brothers will die
And as the sky’s falling down
It crashed into this lonely town
And with that shadow upon the ground
I hear my people screaming out

Now I see fire
Inside the mountains
I see fire
Burning the trees
And I see fire
All of we souls
And I see fire
Blood in the breeze

I see fire (fire)
And I see fire (fire)
And I see fire (fire)
And I see fire (burn on and on and mountains sigh)
