Hollywood is lacking so much for fresh ideas that apparently online drawings now suffice when it comes to movie ideas. Dwayne Johnson is reportedly producing (and may star in) Teddy Bear, based on a well-known DeviantArt drawing.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that New Line recently bought rights to the illustration, entitled Sweet Halloween Dreams, with Dwayne Johnson set to produce (along with Beau Flynn) and potentially star.

Johnson’s former assistant Hiram Garcia found the illustration, which has made the rounds on the internet previously, and brought it to Flynn and New Line. The illustration, which can be seen below, was drawn by Alex Panagopoulos, a former software engineer turned fantasy artist. In one variation on the image, a caption reads: “Teddy Bears: Protecting innocent children from monsters under the bed since 1902.”

With no writer or director attached, not much is known on the project and there are multiple directions a film on the subject could take. It wouldn’t be surprising to see New Line entertain several different pitches on the project before production gets underway. THR says that New Line is hoping to launch a big four-quadrant franchise, as the ambitious take on the material is no doubt aided by Ted‘s excellent performance last year.

Will you see Dwayne Johnson take on the illustration?
