With a new Doctor Who just around the corner, we’ve crunched the numbers to find out what foes, friends, and feats we can expect him to face!
When Doctor Who premieres on August 23, we’ll see a whole new era for the show as The Thick of It star Peter Capaldi truly steps into the role of the Twelfth Doctor. Joining returning companion Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) in the TARDIS, Capaldi will face the Daleks, Cybermen, and an army of new monsters when he makes his debut in series 8. His first episode, “Deep Breath,” was written by showrunner Steven Moffat and sees the return of old friends Madame Vastra, her maid and wife Jenny, and their Sontaran butler Strax.
However, aside from these small details, we don’t really know too much about what to expect from Peter Capaldi. Sure, Moffat has promised a “darker,” “moodier,” “fiercer” Doctor who will face genuine consequences to his actions. It sounds like the show is heading in a new direction, but this is still Doctor Who – and there are still several certainties about every Doctor’s tenure.
