An interview with veteran A&R executive and music producer Ron Fair will excite fans of Darren Criss, as, amidst many other projects, Fair mentions working with the singer-songwriter, musical theater composer and Glee actor on his major label debut.

The Hollywood Reporter discusses Fair’s extensive career, his move to Frontline Management as a consultant, and his new role as in-house A&R on NBC’S The Voice. Aside from these two major projects, the article also lists other artists Fair is working with:

Other artists Fair is currently shepherding include British singer Matt Goss, who boasts a residency at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas (his team members include Pussycat Dolls’ creator and choreographer Robin Antin, manager Jack Rovner and CAA’s Rob Light), Martina McBride, with whom Fair is working on a Christmas album, Il Volo, the operatic trio sometimes dubbed the Italian Jonas Bros., and Luke Christopher, an artist signed to his old label Geffen. Fair also reveals that he’s had “extensive meetings” with Glee star Darren Criss about his debut album for Columbia Records.

This tidbit is sure to excite hardcore Darren Criss fans who are eagerly awaiting more development of his career as a solo musician. Aside from several musical theater albums released with Team StarKid, Darren released an independently-created, five-song EP, Human, in July 2010 and signed with Sony Music Entertainment (Sony own Columbia Records) in April 2011. His original songs are well known to his fanbase via live concerts and bootlegs, but many of these are yet to be professionally recorded and released.

We’re always excited to hear new music from Darren and hope to get our hands on his solo record ASAP!
