Our plucky Avatar will change things up in more ways than one when The Legend of Korra season 4 hits the web.

In a new post laying out the show’s presence at New York Comic-Con, Korra Nation has offered fans their first glimpse of The Legend of Korra season 4. The new image, created jointly by several of the show’s artistic team, shows Korra in a new light – and with a new hairstyle.

“Behold: New hair!” co-creator Bryan Konietzko wrote on his Tumblr, referring to Korra’s shorter locks in The Legend of Korra season 4. “Korra’s design gets backs to its roots in Book 4, with a bob cut like the one [executive producer] Joaquim [Dos Santos] did in his original concept of her.”

Referring back to design trends in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Konietzko jokingly added, “It wouldn’t be the Avatarverse without some hairstyle changes, now would it?”

In a move that surprised many fans, the premiere of The Legend of Korra season 4 was announced earlier this week. The final book of the animated series will be titled “Balance.”

Little information is known about The Legend of Korra season 4, but though the image isn’t particularly revealing, we can guess that Korra’s shorter hair will not be the only thing with a new edge in Book 4. Though Korra has never lacked for toughness or determination, judging by that look in her eyes, it seems that the climactic events of Book 3 will have a hardening effect on her in The Legend of Korra season 4.

In related news, The Legend of Korra season 4 will hold a panel at this year’s New York Comic-Con. Scheduled for 5:15 on Oct. 9, the panel will presumably include co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino, and potentially Janet Varney (voice of Korra) as well. As Book 4 will be the final season of The Legend of Korra, the panel is likely one of the last ever to be held for the popular animated series.

The Legend of Korra season 4 begins streaming on Oct. 3 on Nick.com.
