The Amazing Spider-Man 2 announced some exciting casting news today!
Variety reports that Jamie Foxx is in talks to star as the villain Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. While Columbia Studios hasn’t confirmed the part of Foxx, many sources are reporting that Foxx will indeed star as Electro. Additionally, Foxx tweeted earlier today: Dressed up as Electro for Halloween last night. Costume fits well.” This makes us think that he really is set to play the part!
SlashFilm reports on the part of Electro: “Electro is the alter-ego of Maxwell Dillon, a lineman who was transformed into a mutated electrical capacitor by a freak lightning strike. Dillon realized that he could fire electrical blasts and manipulate electricity in other ways, and became a professional criminal. While the classic version of the character, designed by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, featured green tights with yellow accents and a pretty goofy mask, the Ultimate Spider-Man version is a little more sleek, without the exaggerated mask, and we can probably expect that to be more of a visual inspiration for this version of the character than anything else.”
Marc Webb is set to direct The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone will return to play Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy.
Foxx will next be seen as the title role of Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, which hits theaters in next month.
