The 25 best date night movies streaming on Netflix in 2021
‘Silver Linings Playbook’
If you squint hard enough Silver Linings Playbook is a romantic comedy about two people who kind of irritate each other but are made for each other. In reality, the movie deals with the very serious topic of mental health and how it affects everyone around the person dealing with it. Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, and Robert De Niro star in the film and if you haven’t seen it — you definitely need to.
‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’
If you’ve ever read The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a great nostalgia film to watch. Even if you haven’t read the book, although you should totally fix that, it’s a heart warming film to enjoy anyways. The film also stars Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, and Ezra Miller — which should be enough to make you want to click on it all by itself. It also tackles the important topic of a teen dealing with mental health and the complicated feelings that arise with making new friends, falling in love, and the other drama that comes with high school — but in a very realistic way that doesn’t feel like your typical high school film.
‘Marriage Story’
You’ve probably seen Marriage Story memes all over the internet already. But if you haven’t actually watched it yet, consider doing that now. The Netflix original movie stars Scarlett Johansson, Adam Driver, and Laura Dern who tell the story of a couple going through the divorce. It focuses on the challenges they face dealing with separating their lives that were tangled up together for many years, including deciding a custody agreement. It’s definitely on the emotional side for a date night movie, but it’s an interesting look at how love can fall apart and how messy the legal system is.
