The 22 Jump Street trailers that had been released so far have given us a lot of the same footage with only a few minor tweaks, but this trailer give us almost completely new footage.

Most importantly, it shows us one location that Schmidt (Hill) and Jenko (Tatum) will be going while undercover in college: spring break. It makes sense that a film that puts the two leads in college would send them to one of the biggest college film clichés. As directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller showed in 21 Jump Street, they like to play around with clichés and then turn them on their head. It’ll be great to see all the things they do with college film clichés as well as continuing to build on the cop gags they started last time.

Everything that we’ve seen has made 22 Jump Street look just as good as its predecessor. It shouldn’t be much of a surprise if the film does turn out to be good. 21 Jump Street was one of the best comedies in recent years, and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, the other film from directors Lord and Miller was not only a good kids film, but a highly enjoyable one for everyone. Lord and Miller already have one of the biggest hits of 2014 with The Lego Movie, another smart comedy. All of their films have been filled with laughs, and we expect the same out of 22 Jump Street.

Official synopsis:

After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. Now they don’t have to just crack the case – they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.
