Zachary Levi is the latest actor to sign on for Lionsgate’s The Unbreakable Boy.
According to Deadline, actor Zachary Levi has officially joined the cast of the upcoming Lionsgate drama, The Unbreakable Boy.
Described as a faith based drama, the forthcoming film is based off of Scott M. LeRett and Susy Flory’s book of the same name and is based on the inspiration true story of a young boy named Austin. In addition to being born with a rare brittle-bone disease also happens to be on the autism spectrum.
Despite his differences, Austin doesn’t let anything stop him from having an optimistic outlook on life. In the end, Austin’s joyous take on life ends up transforming and uniting everyone around him.
For his part Levi has signed on to take on the role of Austin’s father, Scott. Currently, it doesn’t seem as though there’s much more news on the casting front so we’ll be curious to find out who will end up starring opposite Levi in the forthcoming inspirational drama.
Behind the camera, Jon Gunn is set to serve as director on the drama. Gunn is especially well suited to helm the faith-based film having recently served as director for 2015’s Do You Believe. Gunn’s previous credits also include penning the script for this year’s music biopic, I Still Believe starring K.J. Apa and Britt Robertson.
In addition to serving as director for The Unbreakable Boy, Jon Gunn will also be tasked with penning the script for the drama.
Others involved behind the camera include Jerilyn Esquibel and Peter Facinelli, both of whom will serve as producers on the project.
As for Zachary Levi, The Unbreakable Boy is just one of many projects the actor has coming down the pipeline. In addition to gearing up to star in the DCEU sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Levi is also set to star in the forthcoming sports drama, American Underdog, due out in 2021. Additionally, he’s also gearing up to star opposite Riverdale vet Cole Sprouse in the forthcoming comedy, Undercover.
