Prepare to bid farewell to Wynona Earp— the hit sci-fi western is officially coming to a close over at Syfy.
According to TV Line, Wynona Earp will officially conclude at the end of its current fourth season.
News that the series’ season 4 would officially be its last comes on Friday (February 5), as the show prepares to air its final six episodes, the first of which debuts in early March.
In a statement announcing the series’ conclusion, creator, showrunner, and executive producer Emily Andras spoke of how proud everyone on the crew is of Wynona Earp’s final six episodes.
“We couldn’t be prouder of these last six episodes on Syfy, and are thrilled to share them with our beloved fans, who have changed our lives forever,” said Andras in a statement. “I have been honored to tell Wynona and her family’s story. And along with Seven24, Cineflex, and CTV Sci-Fi, are hopeful we can continue to share their inspiring tales in the future.”
Based on the comic book series of the same name by Beau Smith, the series centers on the titular character, who also happens to be the great-great-granddaughter of the legendary Wyatt Earp. The show follows Wynona as she ventures back to her hometown of Purgatory where she uses her special inherited powers to battle revenants— reincarnated versions of the outlaws her great-great-grandfather killed— in an effort to send them back to hell.
Over the course of its four season run, Wynona Earp has been celebrated for its LGBTQ+ representation, going on to score four nominations at the annual GLAAD Awards for Outstanding Drama Series.
The first of Wynona Earp’s final six episodes debuts on Friday, March 5 at 10 p.m. on Syfy. The series concludes on Friday, April 9.
