Sequels aren’t too common these days for Walt Disney Animation (not to be confused with Pixar!), but Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 is next in the pipeline from the iconic studio.
Wreck-It Ralph 2 hits theaters this November and looks jammed-packed with easter eggs as Ralph and Vanellope head into the modern internet. The scene getting the most pre-release hype is one in which the latter enters a room where all the Disney Princesses hang out. They ask Ralph’s friend if she’s a princess in the same way any of them are. The biggest laugh comes from Belle and Rapunzel asking if she’s ever been kidnapped or enslaved.
Anyone who uses the internet (all of us duh) are likely to be entertained by how Disney Animation has envisioned the world wide web. Areas like the Search Bar and Oh My Disney (a real site, by the way!), and a character called “Yaaaaas” (pictured above) are going to hit really close to our digital homes.
According to a synopsis from Disney, the movie “leaves Litwak’s video arcade behind, venturing into the uncharted, expansive and thrilling world of the internet—which may or may not survive Ralph’s wrecking. Video game bad guy Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) and fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman) must risk it all by traveling to the world wide web in search of a replacement part to save Vanellope’s video game, Sugar Rush. In way over their heads, Ralph and Vanellope rely on the citizens of the internet—the netizens—to help navigate their way, including a webite entrepreneur named Yesss (voice of Taraji P. Henson), who is the head algorithm and the heart and soul of trend-making site BuzzzTube.”
The movie hits theaters November 21, 2018. Like the original, it’s directed by Rich Moore.
