Wonder Woman was a massive hit for Warner Brothers earlier this year, so the studio will be rewarding director Patty Jenkins handsomely for her second outing.
Deadline reports Jenkins is in final negotiations for Wonder Woman 2, and her salary will reflect what usually happens when a male director pulls off a stellar job on the original: She’ll be getting a massive pay boost.
The report reveals “her [Wonder Woman 2] payday and deal is in line with any other director who has performed at this level.” The deal’s completion appears to be imminent, so WB might be announcing the news soon.
Zack Snyder reportedly received a $10 million salary for his second DC film Man of SteeL after receiving somewhere in between $1.5 million and $3 million for Watchmen. Jenkins is reportedly going to see a similar payday — and Deadline suggests negotiations have revolved around her making sure she’s getting paid as much as a man would after a hit like Wonder Woman.
Jenkins’ DC film, the first critical hit in their current slate, is at $800 million at the worldwide box office. WB has already confirmed that the sequel will hit theaters in 2019. Meanwhile, Justice League arrives this November.
