Netflix’s Bright takes place in an AU Los Angeles, where Will Smith gets to wield a magic sword and race cars. I want to go to there.
Will Smith stars in the Netflix original movie Bright, directed by Suicide Squad‘s David Ayer with a script from Max Landis.

A new trailer shows off the lavish semi-fantastical realm that the characters inhabit, which is an eclectic mix of Tolkien high fantasy and the Fast & Furious franchise:
Bright looks like a fun romp through an alternate reality in which fantasy creatures like orcs and elves have assimilated into modern-day society.
Clearly, the topic of race is heavily present in this movie, which seems centered on the relationship between Smith’s character Ward and his orc partner (played by Joel Edgerton).
Speaking to this aspect of the film at this year’s SDCC, Will Smith said (as quoted by Entertainment Weekly):
“[Joel’s] character is the first orc on the team, and I’m an African-American police officer who just found somebody else to be racist against. You never get to be on that side of racism when you’re black. ‘Look, man, I don’t want no orcs in my car.’”
Bright this Netflix on December 22. It also stars Noomi Rapace and Edgar Ramirez.
