Update (5/24/19): Bad news, Whiskey Cavalier fans. It looks like the series won’t be returning to ABC after all.
Fans of ABC’s new action series, Whiskey Cavalier found themselves hanging on to a glimmer of hope following the series’ cancellation earlier this month.
Despite the fact that ABC had announced they’d be cancelling the series on May 12, news broke on Thursday (May 23) that the network might be reconsidering their decision.
Unfortunately, it looks as though ABC is sticking with their decision to pull the plug.
Series show runner David Hemingson took to Twitter on Friday (May 24) to let fans in on the final call.
“Friends: I just got the sad news that @ABCNetwork has passed. #WhiskeyCavalier has been fully and finally cancelled,” tweeted Hemingson.
In addition to delivering the sad news, Hemingson also made it a point to thank the fans for turning out in droves via social media in an effort to save the series.
“Thank you all so, so much for your efforts on our behalf,” continued the showrunner. “I cannot begin to express my gratitude for the outpouring of support. It’s incredibly painful to say goodbye to this show and our extraordinary cast, but knowing that we made something you enjoyed— and that I believe will stand the test of time— makes it all worthwhile.”

Original Story (5/23/19):
Whiskey Cavalier fans gunning for more episodes of the recently cancelled series might just be in luck.
It looks as though the Scott Foley and Lauren Cohan-led series could be on the brink of getting saved.
Though ABC cancelled the series after just one season on May 12, it’s being reported that the network may be looking to back-pedal on their original decision to pull the plug.
According to Entertainment Weekly, ABC has confirmed that it is “taking another quick look at the feasibility of renewing the show, and conversations are ongoing.”
So what is it that made ABC take a second look at their initial decision? It seems to be a combination of a vocal fanbase, fueled by a few key Whiskey Cavalier crew members.
The social media campaign to save the series kicked off on Wednesday (May 22) with Executive Producer Bill Lawrence taking to Twitter with a call to action, urging fans to tune into the show’s final episode.
“Tonight: great season finale of #WhiskeyCavalier. Maybe check it out? Make this a ‘season’ finale and not a series finale. Just an idea,” tweeted Lawrence.

Lawrence wasn’t the only crew member who took to Twitter to rally the troops.
Series creator David Hemingson chimed in with a similar plea in an effort to raise ratings just enough for ABC to rescind their original decision.
“Tonight is THE night— it’s do or die. Your #WhiskeyCavalier season finale premieres at 10 pm. I know that you’ve heard we’re cancelled, BUT we have one last shot. We need you now more than ever to show your support using #SaveWhiskeyCavalier and tagging @ABCNetwork,” tweeted Hemingson.

ABC has yet to announce an official decision, but the fact that they’re taking a second look is proof yet again of just how powerful these fan campaigns on social media can be!
