Nandor, Laszlo, Nadja, Guillermo and Colin will be back! FX has officially announced that is has renewed What We Do In The Shadows for another season.
According to Deadline, FX reported that the second season of What We Do In The Shadows is averaging 3.2M total viewers across linear and digital platforms — which includes FX on Hulu — through its first six episodes. That number is up 25% on season one, which makes it a no brainer as to why the network renewed the supernatural comedy show halfway through its season 2 run.
“We’re incredibly happy that critics and audiences are all in on [What We Do In The Shadows],” Nick Grad, President, Original Programming, FX Entertainment said in a statement. “Week in and week out, the producers, writers and our amazing cast continue to make one of the funniest and best comedy series on TV.”
What We Do In The Shadows is based on the 2014 mockumentary comedy film of the same name that was directed, written and stared Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi.
Just like the movie, the series is made a mockumentary style and follows the lives of four vampires who has lived together for hundreds of years in the New York borough.
What We Do In The Shadows stars Kayvan Novak as Nandor The Relentless, a great warrior and conqueror from the Ottoman Empire; Matt Berry as British vampire Laszlo, and Natasia Demetriou as Nadja, Laszlo’s lover.
Joining them is Harvey Guillén’s Guillermo, Nandor’s familiar, who wants nothing more than to be made a real vampire just like his master, and Mark Proksch as Colin Robinson, an energy vampire and day-walker of sorts — he feasts on humans, but not on their blood.
Season 1 introduced the council of vampires with some big name actors including Taiki Waititi and Jemaine Clement, who wrote and starred in the original movie, as well as Johnny Brugh, Dave Bautista, Tilda Swinton, Evan Rachel Wood, Paul Reubens, Danny Trejo, and Wesley Snipes. Season 2 has featured The Office and Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Craig Robinson as a vampire slayer wanna-be and Mark Hamill as a vampire searching for Laszlo because he owed him money.
What We Do in the Shadows season 2 is currently airing on FX, with the season finale scheduled for June 10. You can currently stream all of season 1 on Hulu!
