These Westworld season 2 theories are so good we wish they’d actually been real!
Warning: This post contains major spoilers for Westworld season 2!
Maeve’s ‘daughter’ is her biological child
The pay-off of Maeve’s journey to find her daughter in Westworld season 2 was honestly a little disappointing. Other than bringing us the unbeatable (who actually turned out to be fairly beatable) duo of Maeve and Lee, bringing us to Shogun world, and showcasing Maeve’s special powers, the mother-daughter storyline fell kind of flat.

Wouldn’t it have been so much better if Maeve’s daughter had been her biological child, meaning Ford had managed to create a host that could reproduce? This would make even more sense given the changes to the opening credits scene in season 2, which feature a parent and child. If this was the case, Maeve’s story and journey would have been far more impactful in season 2, and the parental theme could have been even stronger in the season.
Charlotte Hale is Arnold’s daughter
Charlotte Hale ended up being part of a big twist in Westworld season 2, but if this twist had been true, she could’ve played a much larger role in the seasons to come.
In this theory, Charlotte Hale is actually the child of Arnold. We know he had a son named Charlie (sounds awfully similar) who died, which is Bernard’s cornerstone memory. Obviously, if this theory was correct, his child wouldn’t have actually died…and she’d be a girl.
Charlotte is the correct age, and it would explain how she got such a prestigious position at Delos, so young. What makes this theory less credible is that she obviously would remember her father, who looks exactly like Bernard. The theory wonders if maybe she actually never met her father, though, which contributed to Arnold’s heartbreak!
Teddy is in Bernard’s body
This theory basically hinges on the “I killed them all” line uttered by Bernard in Westworld season 2, episode 1. This would go back to Teddy’s involvement in Wyatt’s massacre, and he’s even said these words before.
It also goes into the fact that the “future timeline” Bernard doesn’t have the scar that the Bernard in the earliest timeline carries! We’d especially love it if this theory were true at the end of season 2, when they’re back in the real world to reunite Dolores and Teddy, but alas, it seems that Teddy is lost to the Valley Beyond.
The hosts aren’t really sentient
Obviously Westworld season 2 was completely based around the hosts having achieved sentience, but what if the whole thing was just yet another narrative written by Ford?
While this would basically ruin everything that the season built, we just love the idea of Ford being a wicked mastermind so much. In the end, everyone just thought he was still acting as a puppet master.
