In the lengthy “Actathalon Challenge” segment on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Neil Patrick Harris acts out a series of hilarious movie clichés.
Neil Patrick Harris is making the media rounds to promote his new NBC variety show, Best Time Ever, which premieres next week.
He stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers last night for a hilarious skit, during which he had to move through several clichéd movie scenes, including the meet-cute and the high-speed chase scene.
Safe to say, Neil Patrick Harris nailed every single one of them:
Clearly pulling on the pastiche techniques he sometimes used for playing Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother, Harris started out behind a desk, angrily trying to keep his family apart. Next up, he was a vice principal very passionate about his job.
We saw Harris mourn a fallen comrade, meet a cute girl and make out with an orange, give a kid a super creepy speech about sex, and literally hand the wheel over to an extra who clearly wasn’t prepared for the awesomeness that is Neil Patrick Harris.

Finally, in what was probably the best bit, Harris had to hype up his role in the faux (we hope!) movie Connect 4: The Movie. “I play the red circle,” Harris said with complete conviction. We almost want to watch it now.
Neil Patrick Harris’ variety show Best Time Ever premieres Tuesday, September 15 at 10/9c, and then moves into its regular 8 o’clock timeslot two weeks later.
