As Sony continues to push for an Uncharted movie release date, they announced a spring delay for the yet-to-be-filmed production.
As we rang in the New Year, we learned of Travis Scott’s departure as the Uncharted film’s sixth director. Now, the loss of director has delayed the Uncharted movie release date from its original December 18, 2020 release date to March 5, 2021, reports Deadline.
Reports are that Ruebn Fleischer (Venom, Zombieland series) is the top contender for the seventh directorial role of the Uncharted film. With the film perpetually in a state of limbo, Sony is likely choosing the next Uncharted director very, very carefully. With Scott having left so that star Tom Holland’s schedule could accommodate the next Spider-Man film, Fleischer’s schedule would have to balance with both Holland and costar Mark Wahlberg’s in order to get production moving forward.
Though this is somewhat positive news for the Uncharted film, fans are still feeling jaded and unexcited.

It’s going to be quite the squeeze to have the newly announced Uncharted movie release date actually release on March 5, 2020, as most of the major components of the film are still missing.
Uh huh…. sure…. I bet it will totally come out March 5th 2021… even though pre-production hasn’t started yet and there is no directors or other actors…. This is all just hopes and wishes from Hollywood. Don’t believe anything until you are in the theater watching it.

There is a bit of irony here, as the film’s name easily sets it up for puns.
Well, seems like the course for this movie's production, matches it's name! :)

While we wait for the Uncharted movie release date, we can look forward to Uncharted video game development team Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part 2, which was also delayed and is now set to release in the Spring.
