I know I’m not your mom, but I’m telling you that you need to stay in your seat through the Toy Story 4 end credits.
Something happens after Toy Story 4 ends, but I saw a number of people get out of their seats once the credits started and then have to stop in the aisle because something was happening on screen. Those poor people then ended up in that strange limbo where you don’t know whether to stand there or leave again or go back to your seat. You know how awkward that is.
So avoid that fate because let’s face it, someone ended up with sore feet or lower back pain because they made the wrong choice and just stood there in that strange sort of half turn position.
Now, maybe you’re that other person who knows there’s going to be some sort of little stinger at the of the film so you’ll sit there and watch that stinger and then get up and go. I mean, you probably have to pee or you want to beat the rush out of the theater. I can totally understand that.
BUT.
Don’t do that. Because the Toy Story 4 credits aren’t just that little stinger and then “boom, done” which means you’ll end up like those poor schmoes in the aisle but with less room to move because you weren’t in group one.
Stay in your seat because, if you have gotten up, you’ll then have to deal with the awkward second-hand embarrassment of laughing your ass off where everyone can see you and you know you have that thing where you make that scrunchy face while you laugh or you laugh with a little snort but you won’t be able to cover it up because you have the rest of your large soda in one hand and you’re holding something else in your other hand. Maybe it’s a kid who’s now trying to get back to their seat because they’ve figured out that this is going to go on a while but you’ve committed to this new landlocked position and now you look like poor Forky with your arms outstretched and this sort of funny look on your face.
So stay in your seat. Because the Toy Story 4 credits aren’t done with you yet and, if I’m being honest, they’re about to get even better. Yes, there is a post-credits scene.
I’m not going to give anything away, but let’s just say that somewhere in here you get Key & Peele as Ducky and Bunny and phrases like “laser eyes” and “Winner winner chicken dinner” get tossed around. I’m sure they said more but I was sort of cry laughing at that point and I missed some of it.
You have no idea how hard it was for me not to snort-laugh. I have a problem with that. It’s LOUD, y’all. And if you’re anything like me, you’ll want to be sitting down because you really will want to slap an armrest or wave your hand around or just try and figure out how to breathe. Friends don’t let friends watch the Toy Story 4 credits alone.
And don’t get fooled. You’ll see the last little bit of the Toy Story 4 credits roll and you’ll think you’re safe. You’ll think it’s over as you watch the studio logos scroll up and get hit in the feels by the tributes that appear (I miss Don Rickles!) and you’ll feel a little melancholy.
But that’s okay and don’t you move because the Toy Story 4 credits left you a gift in the Pixar logo that pops up at the end of the film and, again, stay all the way till the end of that.
Okay?
We clear?
Like I said, I’m not your mom and I can’t tell you what to do but stay all the way through the Toy Story 4 credits or I’m totally going to ground you.
Toy Story 4 opens June 20.
