Netflix’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before 2 has officially found its new director.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has tasked Michael Fimognari to serve as director on the highly anticipated sequel to last summer’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.
Fimognari previously served as director of photography on the first installment of the teen rom-com and will be taking over directing duties from original helmer Susan Johnson.
Johnson may not be directing the sequel, but she’ll still be involved in the film, which is based off of the second book in author Jenny Han’s series.
In a statement released on Friday (March 22) Johnson announced that she’d now be working as an executive producer on the project. She also revealed that her decision to pass up directing the sequel comes down to a scheduling conflict.
“Directing To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before has been one of the great experiences of my life, and I am grateful to the fans for their passionate support of the film,” said Johnson. “Due to the timing of my other projects, I won’t be directing the sequel, but as an executive producer I am looking forward to continuing to share Lara Jean’s story and being part of this franchise.”
Netflix isn’t just keeping things in the family when it comes to staffing things behind the scenes on To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before 2.
In addition to naming Fimognari as director, the online streaming giant also announced that actors Anna Cathcart, Janel Parrish, and John Corbett had all signed on to return to reprise their roles as Kitty, Margot, and Dr. Covey, respectively.
And of course, original stars Lana Condor and Noah Centineo will also be returning to reprise their roles as Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinsky.
