Fox has commissioned Brian Michael Bendis with writing a secret X-Men project for Deadpool director Tim Miller to helm.
Big news from Fox today as the studio has officially started work on developing a new X-Men film. The movie will be directed by Tim Miller, the man who brought us Deadpool, and the script will be penned by acclaimed comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis.
The movie is largely shrouded in secrecy, as these things usually are. However, Deadline has confirmed that the film is set in the X-Men universe and is being called 143.
Obviously, this is likely a placeholder title, but the internet is working overtime trying to figure out what 143 will actually be about. For now, the reigning theory is that this movie will be the Kitty Pryde standalone film Time Miller was reportedly working on.

Of course, it’s all 100% speculation, but The Hollywood Reporter is pretty confident in calling this a Kitty Pryde movie. The main reason being that Uncanny X-Men no. 143 is, in fact, a Kitty Pryde story that features the character fending off a monster in the X-Mansion.
The story is a bit more horror-based than what we’re used to seeing from the cinematic corner of the X-verse. However, with the forthcoming release of New Mutants, X-Men films are beginning to dip a bit deeper into horror-based stories.
We’ll obviously have to wait a bit longer to get official confirmation from 20th Century Fox on the true nature of this film. Still, we’re excited to get an official word on what’s to come in 143. If anything, they’re assembling a great team from day one, so we have faith that it’s going to be a fun ride.
