Following months of teases, the new X-Files starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson has finally released an epic trailer.
I’ve never watched The X-Files so I can only assume this is epic since everyone on Twitter is freaking out about it. There are missiles, there are explosions, and there are two partners reuniting. What more do you need in a trailer for a new season of a classic sci-fi TV series?
The best moment in this trailer may be when Mulder gives Scully a call and she appears to be taken off guard. The dream team may be back together, but Scully isn’t thrilled about the circumstances of the reunion!
The new season of The X-Files, made up of six episodes, arrives 13 years after the show was last on the air.
“The upcoming event series will encompass a mixture of stand-alone episodes and those that further the original show’s seminal mythology,” writes Fox. “In the opening episode, Mulder and Scully take on a case of a possible alien abductee. The all-new episodes will feature appearances by guest stars, including Joel McHale (Community), Robbie Amell (The Flash), Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under), Annabeth Gish (The Bridge), Annet Mahendru (The Americans), Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords), Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley) and William B. Davis, who reprises his role as ‘Cigarette Smoking Man.’ Three of the episodes are written and directed by Chris Carter, with the remaining new episodes written and directed by original series veterans Glen Morgan, Darin Morgan and James Wong.”
The X-Files premieres Sunday, January 24 on Fox.
