Writer Caroline Dries and stars Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder reveal some exciting The Vampire Diaries season 5 spoilers in new interviews.
The Vampire Diaries season 5 premiere is less than a month away, but we know you’re as anxious for spoilers as we are!
Give Me My Remote has released a lengthy interview with writer Caroline Dries, who touches on a number of new season 5 developments.
Speaking about the Damon/Elena relationship, Dries admits that they struggled a bit with balancing Damon’s character.
“You don’t want to do a cheesy version of that [relationship], so it’s keeping the Damon edge and darkness,” she says, “so [we] make sure he still possesses all the Damon-isms and stuff, but he’s just happy.”
As for Bonnie, who is recently ghost-ified, Dries teases that, “she goes through a very interesting character arc in the first chunk of episodes where she comes to terms with the fact that she’s dead.”
While Dries won’t confirm whether Bonnie is able to return from the dead, she does reveal that it is a plot point early on in the season.
“Rich new mythologies will unfold,” she says. “Our mythology just keeps opening up and keeps getting richer and richer, I think. So I’m excited about that.”
Dries also speaks about Stefan’s arc in early season 5, revealing that while he’s trapped in the lake, “Stefan has a really, really rich story in the premiere […] he suffers and his stories are heartbreaking.”
Paul Wesley has himself spoken about where we stand with Stefan and Silas when The Vampire Diaries season 5 premieres.
In this TV Fanatic interview, you can see the actor speaking about a power shift between Damon and Stefan when Stefan resurfaces:
And finally, Ian Somerhalder adds to the shifting brother dynamic, and also speaks about some new problems for Damon and Elena:
