The Duffer Brothers are teaming with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin to bring an adaptation of Stephen King and Peter Straub’s The Talisman to Netflix.
According to Deadline, a series adaptation of Stephen King and Peter Straub’s The Talisman is on the way over at Netflix.
The forthcoming adaptation already has some big names behind the scenes working on bringing the series to life.
Stranger Things vets, The Duffer Brothers are on board to serve as executive producers on the series through their Monkey Massacre Productions banner. They’ll be teaming with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin TV, who is also on board to produce. Others set to produce include Todd Cohen, Daryl Frank, Justin Falvey, and Stephen King himself.
Also set to be involved behind the scenes is fellow Stranger Things vet Curtis Gwinn. Gwinn will serve as writer and showrunner on Netflix’s The Talisman series.
Based on the 1984 book of the same name by Stephen King and Peter Straub, The Talisman centers on a 12-year-old boy named Jack Sawyer who embarks on a journey to find a crystal called “the Talisman.”
Jack hopes that finding the crystal will help him save his mother, who is dying of cancer, but it turns out the Talisman could also have the power to save the world. Setting off from his home in New Hampshire, Jack finds himself journeying through two different version of the American heartland— the one we know, and another that exists in a parallel universe.
Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect to see The Talisman debut via Netflix.
