‘The Powerpuff Girls’ to return to Cartoon Network with new series in 2016

Cartoon network has just announced that fans of The Powerpuff Girls can expect to see Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup return to their television screens with all new episodes starting in 2016.

News of the decision to bring the show back came on Monday with the network announcing that that it plans to roll out the reboot of the popular animated series, which originally made its debut in 1998, in regions across the world.

Cartoon Network’s chief content officer, Rob Scorcher said the decision to bring the series back was “based upon an overwhelming demand for sugar, spice, and Chemical X.” and also added that he was excited to bring back the popular Cartoon Network series and introduce it to a new generation of fans across the world.

Cartoon Network’s vice president of consumer products for North America also weighed in on the reboot, calling the Powerpuff Girls the “original ambassadors of ‘girl power'” and saying that there is “tremendous excitement around introducing Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup to a new generation,” among those at the television network.

The popularity of the original series earned The Powerpuff Girls two Emmy awards, the opportunity to release a feature film (which was released in 2003), and most recently, a CG special that aired in January 2014 on the Cartoon Network called The Powerpuff Girls: Dance Pantsed.

Expect to see new episodes of The Powerpuff Girls hit your television screens via Cartoon Network sometime in 2016.
