The Mandalorian — Disney+’s highly anticipated live-action Star Wars series has added a new cast member to its ranks.
According to Deadline, Westworld actress Julia Jones has officially joined the cast of The Mandalorian.
Like many other production developments surrounding the live action Star Wars series, details with regards to who Jones will play and how her character will fit into the fold of the series’ inaugural season are being kept firmly under wraps.
The actress, who is best known for portraying the role of Leah Clearwater in The Twilight Saga, joins previously-announced cast members Gina Carano, Nick Nolte, Carl Weathers, Werner Herzog, Giancarlo Esposito, Omid Abtahi, Taika Waititi, and Pedro Pascal.
Pascal in particular, who signed on for the project back in November of 2018, will portray the series’ titular bounty hunter.
Set after the events of Return of the Jedi, but before the First Order comes to power in The Force Awakens, The Mandalorian takes place in the outer reaches — far from the New Republic’s authority, and follows the adventures of the titular lone gunfighter.
Throughout production, the cast and crew, spearheaded by Jon Favreau, have been keeping tight-lipped on specifics surrounding the first live-action Star Wars series. That being said, there’s no denying the first trailer for the show, which premiered at this year’s D23 Expo in August, offered up tons for fans to speculate on while we wait for the series to drop.
The Mandalorian is scheduled to premiere November 12 exclusively on Disney+.
