‘The Legend of Korra’ season 3 hits lowest premiere rating of series

While the show is already confirmed for season 4, The Legend of Korra season 3 premiere faired the worst in the Nick series’ history.

The first two episodes of The Legend of Korra season 3, “A Breath of Fresh Air” and “Rebirth,” hit 1.504 million viewers, while season 3, episode 3, “The Earth Queen,” had a dismal 1.298 rating, according to Zap2It. The episodes are all still above the lowest rated episode of the sequel series to The Last Airbender, which was last season’s “Peacekeepers” with a 1.10 rating.

For comparison’s sake, The Legend of Korra series premiere aired to a 4.55 rating, while season 2’s had only 2.6 million viewers.

The Legend of Korra season 3’s air date was announced a week before it aired, which is most likely why this season’s premiere was rated so poorly.

While it’s not quite time to be concerned for the future of The Legend of Korra, it is a bit concerning that Avatards weren’t able to make up for the unfortunate mess that this season’s promotion has been.

The Legend of Korra airs on Fridays at 8 p.m. EST on Nick and will return from a brief hiatus after this upcoming Independence Day. Nick will air a two episode special of The Legend of Korra season 3 next Friday.
