A new photo and a very small video clip from The Legend of Korra season 2 have hit the Internet, giving fans a few more inches of information about the new season.
The first new piece of information is another photo shared by The Legend of Korra co-creator Bryan Konietzko from a Book 2 color correction session. The shot features a new face for The Legend of Korra season 2… though fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender may find the “character” familiar.
The creature appears to be a winged lemur similar to Aang’s flying companion Momo from Avatar: The Last Airbender. But with its tufted head, striped tail, and orange eyes, this new little guy (or girl) definitely looks like a distant relation to Momo, rather than a direct descendant. (And of course, it’s anyone’s guess whether this flying lemur will have Momo’s creative personality.)
Co-creator Mike DiMartino reblogged the photo and added a note on how production on The Legend of Korra season 2 was progressing. “More episodes are being finished, slowly but surely,” he promised. “Some great stuff coming in book 2!”
This weekend also saw the first inclusion of material from The Legend of Korra season 2 in official promotional material from Nickelodeon. In a promo for a behind-the-scenes program at the Nickelodeon Animation Studios, fans caught an exciting – albeit very brief – glimpse of brand-new footage from Book 2: Spirits.
In spite of the brevity of Korra’s presence in the promo, it’s still heartening to see Nickelodeon include material from The Legend of Korra season 2 in their promotions. And the slice of footage, however minuscule, is still pretty darn exciting. Though we have had plenty of indications that Korra will be grappling with the spirits in season 2, it’s overwhelming to watch her take on at least three malevolent glow-creatures all at once. (And one of those things is totally flying.) Though most fans anticipated that Korra would struggle with her spiritual side in Book 2, it looks like that struggle may be quite a bit more epic than we had anticipated.
