‘The Legend of Korra’: First official footage revealed from season 2!

The Legend of Korra season 2 release date may still be a mystery, but the first official footage from Book 2: Spirits has finally been released!

The first high-quality, official footage from The Legend of Korra season 2 has at long last been released, giving fans a glimpse of Korra engaged in a serious battle with some mysterious spirits.

The clip, revealed by IGN as part of a behind-the-scenes feature at Nickelodeon’s animation studios, begins with the show’s creators Mike DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko discussing The Legend of Korra season 2.

“Korra has a whole new realm of things that she has to battle and master,” Konietzko said, confirming that Korra “ventures into the Spirit World” in season 2. DiMartino chimed in with new information about the strange spiritual forces. “The spirits can take different forms,” he said. “There’s like creature spirits, then there’s also these light and dark spirits.” The co-creator’s words were interspersed with quick scenes of Korra doing battle with various spirits – in one, a large spiny creature with glowing eyes pins her in its grasp; in another, Korra gasps as other characters flee from a massive four-legged beast with a mouth from a neon nightmare.

The official clip (a peek at which was seen earlier in a quick promo) reveals Korra attempting to bend – to little effect – at a terrifying spirit with eyes of fire and a vicious mouth complete with several circular rows of teeth. The spirit appears to get the best of Korra for the time being, and we have to salute Avatar Korra for being much, much braver than we could possibly be in that situation.

Hopefully, this exciting new clip will be the start of much more information to come from The Legend of Korra season 2!
