Pixar’s long-gestating original feature film The Good Dinosaur arrives this November, and today we’re finally getting a proper look at the new movie.
The Good Dinosaur was originally slated for release in May 2014, but after a massive re-working of the story and a switch of directors, the film was pushed to November 2015.
Now we have our first trailer, which will undoubtedly run in front of Pixar’s other 2015 original movie Inside Out later this month (and perhaps with Jurassic World too?). Watch below:
This is a teaser trailer, so it’s not too surprising that plot details don’t exist within this preview. It only tells us that the film will look at what would’ve happened if the asteroid that wiped out all of the dinosaurs missed the earth. In true Pixar fashion, the trailer asks the questions with a bit of humor.
“The film is a humorous and exciting original story about Arlo, a lively Apatosaurus with a big heart,” Pixar has previously said of the movie. “After a traumatic event unsettles Arlo’s family, he sets out on a remarkable journey, gaining an unlikely companion along the way – a human boy. The Good Dinosaur is an extraordinary journey of self-discovery full of thrilling adventure, hilarious characters and poignant heart.”
This very simple but striking teaser poster was also released today:
In true Pixar easter egg fashion, expect a character from The Good Dinosaur to appear ever so subtly in Inside Out — it’s a studio tradition to include a character from a future film in their latest release.
The Good Dinosaur opens in theaters November 25, 2015, with voice actors including Lucas Neff, John Lithgow, Frances McDormand, Neil Patrick Harris, Judy Greer, and Bill Hader.
