The Flash has announced that two recurring characters will be regulars in season 5.
Hartley Sawyer (Ralph Dibny) and Danielle Nicolet (Cecile Horton) have been promoted to series regulars for the upcoming season of The Flash.
Both promotions make sense, considering where their stories ended in season 4. Barry took Ralph, one of the bus metas and a former coworker at CCPD, under his wing when his elastic abilities manifested. However, Ralph seemingly died when DeVoe took over his body.
Barry suffered from immense guilt for not being able to save him, but in the season finale, Barry discovered that Ralph’s consciousness was still in his body. He helped Ralph regain control of his body, which defeated Devoe, who needed Ralph’s elastic body to survive the effects of his mind’s enhanced abilities.
With Ralph alive and having been so strongly connected to Team Flash, it makes sense for him to become a regular. TVLine first reported Sawyer’s promotion.

Meanwhile, Nicolet’s Cecile, Central City’s district attorney, became pregnant in season 4, leading to her and Joe having to work through some anxieties but coming closer.
A side effect of her pregnancy was gestational telepathy, an ability that provided insight into some of the characters, like Caitlin, and helped Barry defeat DeVoe. She also defended Barry against murder charges in court.
Cecile gave birth to a baby girl, Jenna Marie West, in the season finale. Deadline first reported Nicolet’s promotion.
