We got our first look at The Flash season 3 at San Diego Comic-Con, where a trailer teasing the aftermath of Barry’s choice in the season 2 finale was released.
At the end of The Flash season 2, Barry — grieving the death of his father at the hands of Zoom — traveled back in time to the night of his mother’s murder. Unlike the season 1 finale, though, when he stopped himself from saving Nora Allen, Barry stopped Eobard Thawne from killing his mother.
The question since then has been what would happen with Barry changing history. The trailer released at Comic-Con gives us some hints about what is to come.
Watch the trailer for The Flash season 3 below:
Highlights from the trailer include:
- Eobard Thawne is locked away, mocking Barry. He also gives the new timeline its comic book name: Flashpoint. In the DC Comics, the Flashpoint storyline takes place after Barry saves his mother’s life, completely changing the status quo.
- Wally West as Kid Flash. See our first look at him here.
- Both Henry and Nora Allen are living together, happily married. Barry, unsurprisingly, is thrilled at this development.
- Barry has no relationship with Iris or Joe West. Sob. He seems determined to change that, though.
- Cisco Ramon is apparently the new Harrison Wells. And also the richest man in America. While he has a lady on his arm, there is no sign of Caitlin.
- We see another speedster, this one in a black suit. (No, not the Zoom suit.)
- The trailer ends hauntingly with an upset Barry walking away as Eobard Thawne yells, “Now who’s the villain, Flash? Now who’s the villain?”
The Flash season 3 premieres Tuesday, October 4 at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
