The Crown released a full trailer for season 3, and as the Queen faces her Silver Jubilee, things are changing for the monarch.
Season 3 of The Crown is just around the corner, and in the new full trailer for season 3, we see a serious changing of the tides for the sovereign. The new season picks up around the Queen’s Silver Jubilee, celebrating 25 years of her reign, and the Queen begins to wonder if she has done anything truly good for the country.
But the new season of The Crown doesn’t just have the Queen examining her life as a monarch. Behind the scenes, the lives of the Royal Family, like her sister Margaret and her son Charles, seem to be struggling as well. Take a peek at the new trailer to get a taste of some of the drama.
For Queen Elizabeth, following in her father’s footsteps must have felt like a Herculean job. Her father, King George VI, reigned during WWII, offering a nation hope and some guidance during a terrifying time.
So as Queen Elizabeth finds herself looking back at her own time on the throne in the third season of The Crown, she can’t help but feel a bit like a failure. With Britain dealing with intense issues, like financial struggles and poor national security, she wonders if she is to blame for the country falling apart.
And in the middle of this intense political turmoil, we also start to see the first glimpses of some modern-day Royal Family scandals. As we see our first series introduction to Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor), we see seeds of familial discontent brewing as he begins his tumultuous relationship with Camilla Parker-Bowles (who was Camilla Shand at the time).
Not only is Queen Elizabeth dealing with the public perception of royalty, but now, she must also manage the perception of the Crown in the eyes of her children (namely, her son).
In previous seasons of The Crown, most audience members found themselves enthralled with peeking into parts of Queen Elizabeth’s life that were unknown to many. However, this season is the first that begins to dive into more public knowledge of the Royal Family.
Season 3 of The Crown is shaping up to be an amazing one as we watch the continued evolution around the British perception of the Royal Family alongside the family’s personal drama. Be sure you’re caught up on the show’s first two seasons because new episodes are coming to Netflix on November 17.
