Sheldon seeks revenge after his breakup with Amy, while Leonard grapples with guilt on The Big Bang Theory season 9, episode 2.
The episode, titled “The Separation Oscillation,” will focus on Sheldon’s attempt to “move on” from Amy, with a little help from his web series.
Amy officially ended her relationship with Sheldon on last week’s season premiere of The Big Bang Theory, when her brainy boyfriend was completely unable to give her space she needed. Sheldon’s reaction to the breakup is – unsurprisingly – to have a standoffish tantrum, but maybe he’ll get to a grieving stage eventually.
Meanwhile (and this is a big “meanwhile”) Leonard and Penny finally tied the knot in Las Vegas! Unfortunately, while Penny put aside her concerns about Leonard’s fidelity for the ceremony, she couldn’t help but raise the subject of The North Sea Kiss afterward. The news that Leonard still sees the scientist, Mandy, pretty regularly infuriated the new Mrs. Hofstadter, and the newlyweds returned angrily to Pasadena.
The first sneak peek from The Big Bang Theory season 9, episode 2 shows the couple making a few glum motions toward reconciliation – with possible help (or hinderance) from Sheldon.
Another clip makes it clear that, even if Leonard and Penny make up, the ripple of The North Sea Kiss will be felt in more than one relationship.
And the final look at “The Separation Oscillation” makes it clear that Sheldon has absolutely no idea what the word “separation” means.
The still photos from tonight’s episode display general unhappiness – perhaps tied into the fact that Melissa Tang will be guest starring as Mandy. (And the fact that Sheldon has the emotional range of a teaspoon.)
The official synopsis for “The Separation Oscillation” says, “Leonard confronts the woman he kissed on the North Sea in an attempt to set Penny’s mind at ease. Also,” CBS continues, “Sheldon films a special episode of ‘Fun with Flags’ after his breakup with Amy, and Bernadette feels guilty about withholding a secret from Penny.”
The Big Bang Theory season 9, episode 2, “The Separation Oscillation,” airs tonight at 8:00 p.m. on CBS.
