Everything wove together nicely in The Big Bang Theory season 8, episode 12. Here’s our recap of “The Space Probe Disintegration.”
Bored of the rings
Fed up with always participating in the guys’ geeky activities, Penny and Amy decide to make Leonard and Sheldon do what they want for once – bonus if it’s something the guys will hate.
But Penny and Amy find themselves struggling to find something they themselves agree on, as Penny usually just forces Amy to do whatever she wants. Sheldon finally comes up with the perfect solution: making the guys wait while the girls go shopping.
Paradigm shift
Leonard and Sheldon hold the girl’s purses as they shop. The situation is tenable until Leonard realizes that the store has no cell service.
Still, the guys accept that they need to compromise with their girlfriends. Sheldon says he has a lot of experience compromising for so many years with Leonard.
Leonard does a liquid-free spit-take at this assertion. Sheldon starts listing all of the nonexistent ways in which he silently compromises with Leonard, leaving Leonard struggling for words in furious indignation.
Nicer choices
In the changing rooms, Penny feels guilty for always making Amy go along with her plans. Amy doesn’t think it’s a big deal, but Penny insists that that evening, they will all do whatever Amy wants to do.
Which is basket weaving at the craft museum, and don’t knock it Penny, that sounds delightful.
Peripheral vision
Leonard lists all the things he can’t do because of Sheldon – including living with Penny. Sheldon counters with the fact that he’s aware of Leonard’s sarcasm toward him, and Leonard grudgingly apologizes.
Sheldon says that Leonard should live with Penny if he wants to – though he thinks that means that Leonard will be out of his life, because it’s not like Penny lives five feet away or anything.
“I’m not upset,” he insists, burying his face in a tissue. “I’m just imagining a world without my best friend in it!”
Leonard reminds him that Penny lives like five feet away. “Either way,” Sheldon says,
“I want you to know that I’m aware of how difficult I can be. So I just want to say thank you for putting up with me.”
Baby steps
The girls come out to find their boyfriends sobbing. Penny promises that Leonard won’t move out until Sheldon is ready, and Sheldon proposes a gradual move. They settle on Leonard living at Penny’s for one night a week, with limited whistling privileges.
Sheldon wipes his eyes, proud of how they have compromised.
Probing the issues
Meanwhile, Raj freaks out over the fate of a space probe he launched nine years ago, irritating Howard. Raj decides to go to a Hindu temple to calm his nerves, bringing a surprised Howard with him.
In the parking lot, Raj says that the temple comforts him, reminding him that everyone is part of a great pattern that works its will through them. Everyone is connected.
Raj freaks out when the man next to them dings his car door, but calms when Howard gets a text – the probe is on!
Unbe-weave-able
After weaving baskets and helmets, Penny and Leonard go to bed to in Penny’s apartment… with Sheldon sleeping in her living room.
