We had a chance to sit down with the cast and showrunner of The 100 at San Diego Comic-Con and pick their brains about what might be coming up in season 3.
The love was brimming in The 100 press room this morning. Just about every cast member made a point to stop by and pass on a little more love to another as we talked with all your favorite Arkers (and a Grounder, too.)
The morning began with a story from Isaiah Washington talking about his reaction to the crazy throwing-the-boy-over-the-side-of-the-boat scene from last season. He admitted to yelling out loud while on a plane, startling everyone.
Washington also spread a little of that love when he talked about how he believes that each and every one of his younger co-stars are the big stars of tomorrow. He went so far as to promise that Bob Morley would make a very good Batman. We couldn’t help but agree; Morley would make a fantastic Batman when they reboot the series again… in about 10 years.
We also learned that if Marie Avgeropoulos could play a female superhero, she would be most excited to don the Catwoman costume because, “If I could wear leather on some part of my body everyday, I would.” Very apropos for a woman bringing such a kickass lady to screen every week.
Next we got to chat with Bob Morley, and we asked about how his and Octavia’s relationship will continue to develop in season 3. Bob told Hypable, “She’s grown a lot. I don’t think he needs to protect her so much anymore. So, yeah, I think it’s gonna be interesting to see how she feels about the Grounders, and how Bellamy feels about the Grounders. They’re always going to have that rift, and that conflict.” We knew that Octavia’s relationship to the Grounders was going to be a hot button issue for these two going forward, and now that she and Lincoln have chosen to stay at Camp Jaha, it definitely can’t be avoided.
When we talked to Eliza Taylor, we learned that she is honored to be playing a character that isn’t defined one way or another by her sexuality. “The great thing about our show is there’s no labels. It’s not like bi or whatever. It’s people loving people, and that’s the way it should be now.” It’s a beautiful way to look at love in the world, and it’s one of the reasons we love The 100 so much.
We asked Lindsay Morgan if there was a character who she would love to see Raven interact with more on the show. She very quickly replied, “Octavia’s a big one. Marie’s my girl.” Marie then came bouncing to the table and agreed that some more Octavia/Raven love would be a welcome addition if they had their way. She also mentioned that Jaha is one of her favorite characters, and she would love to see more interaction between Raven and him.
In a very quick minute with Jason Rothenberg, he let us know that the theme of season 3 is what it means to be human. In addition to that being in reference to the A.I. we saw in the finale, he went on to mention that characters like Clarke have lost bits of their humanity, and this season will explore what it means to be human to many different characters.
Oh, and even Jason Rothenberg doesn’t know how many episodes we’ll get in season 3. We’ll just have to wait on pins and needles to find out how many episodes Rothenberg will have to tell the next chapter in the story of the Arkers transition to living on Earth.
