We’ve got a long wait for The 100 season 3, but at least there is a significant chunk of episodes to look forward to!
At the Television Critics Association press tour, CW president Mark Pedowitz (understandably) didn’t talk a lot about The 100. All attention was generally on the network’s slate of fall shows, while The 100, Containment and the new Flash/Arrow spin-off Legends of Tomorrow took a back-seat, as they are being held for spring 2016.

IGN did manage to get some good nuggets of info about The 100 season 3. Specifically, that it’ll be 16 episodes long! That makes the new season as long as season 2, and three episodes longer than season 1.
Pedowitz also says they have a “rough idea” of when The 100 will premiere, though nothing is certain yet. But, “we pretty much know how the schedule’s going to play itself out, give or take.”
Showrunner Jason Rothenberg took to Twitter to share the announcement with the passionate fan base:
ICYMI… #The100 Season 3 will be delivering 16 EPISODES of pain (hopefully some pleasure too).

Considering the brilliant pacing of The 100 season 2 (not a stale episode in the bunch, yet enough time for character development and diversions), this is good news. 16 episodes seems a good season length for a modern-day network drama series.

And speaking of Rothenberg, who is an expert at giving the fans what they want: check out who’s back on set!
Hey #The100 Fans, today is Lexa's 1st day back on set. Let's show @DebnamCarey how we feel about her.

Now we’ll be waiting not-so-patiently for a season 3 premiere date so we can start counting down the days…
